Earthship
As part of our continued growth into the community and our committment to the enviroment, Dalmeny School along with community members are exploring the possibility of building the Dalmeny Earthship, an enviromentally friendly building made from recycled or reclaimed materials. This building will be used by the school and the wider community. We will keep you up to date with any future developments. Information of the Earthship in Fife can be found at www.earthshipfife.org.uk
The Haven
Once every 3 weeks a group of children (currently P3/4) spend the morning at The Haven. This is a local day centre for the more elderly residents of the community and during our visit we serve breakfast, chat to the members and play games like dominos. Every Friday is DRESS DOWN day. Every child that does not wear school uniform on Fridays pays 20p. This money goes to sponsor 2 children in Africa. To find out more about this please click on link...
Beach Adoption
We have a unique relationship with Dalmeny House, a stately home renowned for its collection of paintings. We have adopted one of their beaches and every year parents, staff and pupils spend the morning cleaning the beach followed by a BBQ. Photos of the 2008 beach clean up can be found by clicking this link......
Gambia
A member of staff has developed links with children in Gambia and travelled to Gambia to work with the children and also to deliver donations of writing supplies given by Dalmeny parents and the school. Click on link to find out more.
